Latinos in Action held a fundraiser by selling aguas frescas at the old concessions stands, a Hispanic beverage with many flavors. LIA made horchata, horchata with strawberry, and hibiscus.
Janessa Martinez (12), president of LIA, was in charge of running this fundraiser. Martinez is planning on donating $100 to Ryanne Boyd (12). “She’s my best friend, Ryanne’s helped me in the past, I’m just paying the favor back,” Martinez said.
Martinez’s favorite part of the process was knowing that all this hard work of making the aguas frescas and selling them would be worth it, and the money would go to a good cause.
Denise Corona (11), vice president, helped with the process as well and had plenty of fun. She enjoyed making and selling the aguas frescas and supported Martinez’s decision to donate the money.
Hannah Alcaraz (11) enjoyed being there in the moment dealing with the fact that every hard-working moment was meant for someone special, Alcaraz enjoyed knowing that her work was going towards a righteous reason.
