As the end of the year approaches and students head out for summer vacation. Seniors are preparing to say their final goodbyes. But with several events and activities planned throughout May, remembering these dates can become a bit more difficult. So what’s coming up?
Seniors may be prepared to get outta here but they still have one last battle to fight through. Finals are rounding the corner a week earlier for seniors. On Tuesday May 19th, while everyone is going about their last week, the class of 2026 will be busy taking their fourth, fifth, and sixth hour finals. Followed by their first, second and third hour finals on Wednesday. Speaking of Wednesday after seniors finish up their last finals. They’re giving up their ipads and checking out for the year. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have more plans rounding the corner.
The senior walk, a mandatory event for graduating seniors. It takes place on Thursday May 21st. Seniors will dress up in their graduation gowns and visit schools throughout the district. A special moment for not only the seniors to be seen and appreciated but for the children watching their older sibling or cousins succeed and become inspired to be like them.
The last week of the school year when the rest of the classes are taking their finals. Seniors get to do more and more fun events. Starting with the Lagoon trip! With a signed permission slip and 100$ you can sign up to go on the Senior Lagoon trip. Your permission slips were due on April 30th this year so sadly if you haven’t signed up it might be too late now. But if you did get those slips in, the lagoon trip takes place on Tuesday May 26th with the buses leaving BHS at 7am and heading back at 4pm. Be aware Lagoon has several rides not covered by the park ticket so if you’re looking to get on those you’re gonna have to cough up a few bucks. And even if you’re not wanting to enjoy the thrill of the extra rides it’s still recommended to bring money for lunch or to pack up some snacks to enjoy.
But I know what some people are asking. What’s graduation gonna be like? Well, good news for you! Graduation rehearsal is on Wednesday May 27th in the BHS BPAC, starting at 10am. Attendance is mandatory, seniors! And you need to be on time. The rehearsal should be completed around 2pm and if there’s any problems with timing, or with your cap and gown please see Mr. Moore ASAP. During graduation rehearsal seniors will be provided graduation tickets to give to your family members. These tickets will allow your families to get to see you graduate. You will be proved 4 tickets and there will be a drawing for extra tickets on this day as well. Do be aware all bills and school fees need to be paid before you can receive these graduation tickets this includes library, lunchroom, athletic, and activities fees. The fees are payable if you go down to the bookstore.
Finally, Thursday May 28th, graduation day! At 8:30 in the morning a senior breakfast and slideshow will take place. This is an optional activity you don’t have to go but if you do wish to enjoy some breakfast with the rest of your class you need to sign up at the bookstore. Thankfully the senior breakfast is completely free! But let’s be nice to our peers and only take what you will eat and save some for the rest. The Ceremony will happen at 7pm but seniors must arrive an hour earlier at 6pm and report to the old gym. You are also required to wear formal attire for the ceremony. After the event ends and families are done celebrating the All Night Party will begin at 10:30pm and ends at 5am the next morning. It’s an optional event that costs $25 to participate and you pay at the bookstore. The event is hosted by The Senior Class Officers and parents that volunteered. The doors are open till 11pm for admission. And once a student chooses to leave the party they are not allowed to re-enter. The party will consist of many fun activities for seniors to do with each other and celebrate their freedom from high school.
