Do you like writing? Interested in documenting events? Like staying informed on current events? You might wanna consider joining our lovely school’s Newspaper! It’s a class that can accomplish all of those things and more. Newspaper is not only a club you go to once every month or so, but a class that you can participate in every day! Both the club and class are run by Ms.Folsom, an English teacher at our high school.
Newspaper isn’t all sitting in silence and writing for an hour. It’s full of amazing students who love voicing their ideas and opinions on different topics. Newspaper articles try to focus on informing people of the topic rather than making it all about their bias, unless it’s an opinion article like this one.
We do many things in Newspaper. We hold group discussions where we share ideas for article topics, listing them out in different sections like sports or features. We prefer to write about current events that directly relate to the students of this high school. And we also elect students to different positions, like the lead editors for each section.
Why should you join Newspaper? Well, our editors answered this exact question. “Because it’s a great experience and will look great on a college application.” This is just one of the many reasons people have been interested in Newspaper! But how do our members collaborate with their classmates on articles? Another one of our lead editors answered this. “I work fantastically with other people, some might even call me the best team worker that ever team worked. :slightly-happy:”
