It was Feb 8, 2026, and I was talking to friends not really caring about the Super Bowl, though I did have intentions of watching the halftime show just for the simple fact that my aunt was doing sign language as an assistant, and it was a big deal for my family that a person from our nationality was performing. I never really cared for Bad Bunny, but seeing him come on screen and perform his songs changed my mind. What really caught my attention was the symbolism behind the show and especially the end when he was talking about having to use love to beat out hate. He then mentioned everyone in the Americas, showing that everyone is seen and belongs here.
Bad Bunny’s halftime show was an exceptional performance by the Puerto Rican artist, who is the biggest pop artist as of the writing this article. The performance lasted 13 minutes, and it had some of his top songs, but he mostly performed his new album “DeBI TiRAR MaS FOToS” which this album came out in 2025. It put its focus on Puerto Rico, using mostly Puerto Rican instruments or meanings that have happened on the island.
The entire show represented Puerto Rico and its history and ongoing current events going on in the island. It was informative if you know the history of it all. It shows a collection of symbolism, like the power outages happening, how Bad Bunny never stopped speaking Spanish to go national, or how Ricky Martin had to adapt to the system and sing in English to get popular.
