Why is Greece such a great country? Greece has many cities and historical sights to see. When winter ends, spring comes and so do the tourists chasing after the warmer weather.
When in Greece, explore fallen empires like Chania in Crete with their beautifully colored houses and buildings. Another very popular destination is the Cyclades islands, a group of 220 islands east of the mainland.
Unlike Chania, the breathtaking Santorini has white buildings, homes, and churches rather than colored paints. Every spring, church volunteers work on re-painting the churches, making sure the white paint stays in pristine condition while also preparing for harsh, hot weather in the summertime
Many refer to the Minoan civilization ruins as “the beating heart” of Greece during the summertime. Tourists also love to visit the famous Zakynthos shipwreck and love to visit the beautiful bronze-red beaches.
Santorini is actually on the rim of an active underwater volcano; its last eruption was in 1950. Many tourists rent out one of many flats that are available on the crescent-shaped island and enjoy their vacation by watching the stunning sunsets that Greece’s islands have to offer.
However, the volcano initially was only a single volcano in the middle of the sea. Until 4,000 years ago, when a violent eruption caused us to see the fragmented rim you can see today!
Greece is the 4th biggest exporter of marble. Many of the outer islands, on the outskirts of Turkey, have many resources that Greece exports, mainly marble and pumice. Greece has not only rich minerals and resources but also lots of cool history.
After knowing what you now know, would you travel to all the historically rich cities? See the breathtaking views, stunning islands, beaches, food, and more?
