After a long year of Volleyball, the coach and players tell us highlights of this year and how they believe it went.
The coach of this year’s volleyball team, Chelsey Arave, was asked what the game performance of this year was, Arave responded with “I think we were young. A lot of young talented girls were on this year’s team.” Arave had also explained how there is plenty room for improvement next year that she’s excited to see. She continued to explain how the seniors led well. “Four freshmen were on varsity, so we’re excited for the next couple seasons.”
“Important aspects to the season this year was how the team worked together and showed a lot of camaraderie among the team.” Arave continued to explain how they supported each other and worked as one unit the majority of the time. “Makenna Rasmussen led the team in kills, and was nominated for all conference as an outside this year, and is graduating on a scholarship hopefully.” Was her immediate response when asked who went above and beyond in her team.
“Our team captains this year were Jaci Capson, Makenna Rasmussen, and Izybel Talbot. All of which are incredible seniors, and led our team wonderfully.” Arave explained that all of her girls were amazing, and have bright futures ahead of them.
When asked about the season, Arave said “I think one of the best games was at districts when at the end of the season everyone came together and it was nice to see everyone just play.”
As well as the coach, we interviewed two of the team captains, Izybel Talbot and Jaci Capson. Talbot had told us that “I joined volleyball so I’d have something to do. I also enjoy hanging out with everyone, and I am very competitive.”
“An important moment like most others are close games.” Capson had told us, and her biggest strength was seeing the court. “My biggest motivator is my parents.”
Talbot had told us similar answers with, “I joined Volleyball because my mom used to play, and I’ve been playing since I was little. I love making friends with my teammates. Close games are my favorite type of games, especially since I’m the setter.” She continued to explain her biggest motivator is her family.
