Seahawks win the Superbowl
After a long 2025-26 season, the Seattle Seahawks have emerged as the superbowl champion, beating the new england patriots 29-13. Backed by a strong defensive showcase, and a kicker who was automatic, they thoroughly routed the Cinderella-run Patriots.
Both teams finished the regular season with 14-3 records, but some fault the patriots for having the 5th easiest schedule of all time, not just this season. And some also said that the patriots’ run to the superbowl was backed by perfectly-timed injuries and teams who were hanging on by threads.
Not to discredit the Seahawks, even though it’s really easy to, but the Patriots were clearly not a superbowl-caliber team, i mean just look at their playoff competition, a Chargers team that was missing both their starting offensive tackles (Alt and Slater), and the rest were in the midst of a terrible season, like Mecki Becton, then in the divisional, played Coleridge Bernard Stroud, who managed 8 turnovers across just two games (a playoff record), and not to discredit the Patriots offense (that comes later) but if Stroud didn’t have number 1 defense in the league, then you might see him working at your local Burger King, let’s hope he doesn’t fumble burger patties as much as he fumbles the football.
Lastly, the Bo Nix-less Broncos, ah yes, the superteam that was destined to win it all since week 1, but a poorly timed broken ankle in the divisional win against the bills left the win solely in the hands of Auburn legend Jarrett Stidham, and a competent kicker, but alas, a snowstorm and a competent defensive showing by the Pats led them to a 10-7 victory in Mile High Stadium, and their record 11th superbowl appearance.
Let’s talk about the Seahawks, number 1 seed by a slim 13-3 win over their divisional rival San Francisco 49ers left them in prime position to breeze into the superbowl. A swift 41-6 win over the Niners left them at the nfc championship facing their other competent divisional rival (sorry Cardinals fans, if you exist) the Los Angeles Rams, and MVP Matthew Stafford, but the rams couldn’t pull of the upset and the Seahawks won 31-27, and with that the Seahawks breezed onto the biggest stage in the NFL world.
The big game, you know it, and you either love it or hate it, depending on how often your team plays in it, but regardless, it happened. Do you love field goals? We know the Seahawks do, kicking 5 of them, but when your defense is good enough to make MVP runner-up Drake “Drake Maye” Maye look like Sam Darnold did on the jets (seeing ghosts), then kick all the field goals you want, also, in my most biased take of the night, shout out to Notre Dame legends Rylie Mills, who recorded a sack on Maye, and Julian Love, who had an interception. Two more touchdowns later and Seattle has secured their second super bowl in franchise history, and their fourth appearance. This game was also a rematch dating back to 2015, where franchise legend Russel Wilson threw a game-sealing interception to Malcolm Butler instead of choosing to run the ball with All-Pro running back Marsahwn Lynch.
It’s been a long season, and we (as in all of us) will surely be excited for the start of the 2026-27 season in September.
