North Star Independent

On the twentieth to the twenty fourth of April, one of the only indoor percussion groups in Eastern Idaho took the floor in UD arena to show off their skills.

North Star Independent is stationed out in Idaho Falls and holds practices at Bonneville High School. Their weekends, for the past few months, have consisted of 15 hour practices, spread out between Friday and Saturday. They have been a group for a few years, but weren’t always called North Star Independent (NSI). Since Sarah and Jason Jennings (the directors) started this group, they have always yearned to take a group to WGI World Championships. Now, finally, after about five years, they were able to do just that!

The WGI indoor percussion season officially starts in February and ends in April. But many groups, including NSI, start and begin practices around November. For the past five months NSI has worked hard to get up to the point of standing under the confetti at the University of Dayton.
