Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring festival. This marks the beginning of a new year on the transitional lunisolar Chinese calendar. The Chinese celebrations last up to 16 days, but only the first 7 days are considered a public holiday (February 17th–February 23rd, 2026). Chinese New Year marks the transition between zodiac signs and 2026 is the Year of the Horse. Chinese New Year is celebrated in different countries.
Chinese New Year’s Eve is an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner. Traditionally, every family would thoroughly clean their house, symbolically sweeping away any ill fortune to make way for incoming good luck. Other activities include lighting fire crackers and giving money in red envelopes. They celebrate and have festivals to show their culture in fun and interesting ways.
The Chinese zodiac this year is a horse and is known for energy, independence, charm, and a can’t-sit-still zest for life.
I think Chinese New year is very interesting. It seem like a good way to bring culture and families together.
