Before Thanksgiving break, Blackfoot High School received an announcement about bringing cans of food to your advisory teacher before the deadline. This event was hosted by the student council and Mr. Lish, and now they will share their goals about the food drive.
Mr. Lish states, “We have a goal to drive 55, our goal is to feed 55 families with foods like turkey and potatoes for thanksgiving.” The food drive is usually hosted around Thanksgiving so that people have food to eat for this special occasion. All the food that is donated is brought to Bingham Food Pantry.
The total donated food that Blackfoot High School brought together was estimated to be 2,200, “This year we did way more food donations ever.” Said Mr. Lish, who was grateful for the contributions that students had. Even through the hardships of advertising and trying to teach students about the importance of the food drive, he and the student council managed to bring food to the table for many families on Thanksgiving.
We asked how he and the student council got the idea from, to which Mr. Lish responded, “We’ve done this for several years, combined efforts from student council and organizations.” If you are interested in helping more families or contributing, Mr. Lish suggests a few words on how to contribute, “donate, find names of people who need help, and get the word out for us.”
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Blackfoot High School food drive.
