Broncos wrap up fall sports

Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Not just because of the leaves falling, flannels and beanies, but because of the fall sports. I’m a sucker for football, soccer, volleyball, and, even though it baffles my mind that people like to run, cross country. But now that fall sports have come to end, and winter is bringing a whole new set of sports- let’s recap a little on a few major events and tie ups to our fall sports seasons.

Bronco football won its first game against Snake River, and although they didn’t win again until their seventh game against Preston, they won their eighth and final game against Pocatello. JV experienced their first loss in its high school careers, but ultimately are looking pretty great for next season. Cade Ricks (12) finally got his cast off just in time for his recognition on Senior night after being out all season long.

Boys soccer went undefeated all through their season up until State, where they took fourth. This was quite a shock after being District Champs and having such a successful season, but we love them anyway and are looking forward to next season.

Girls soccer went into Districts seeded fourth in conference and finished their season against Skyline with a loss. However, many returners to varsity said it was their best season yet.

Volleyball had a little bit of a rough season, but did make it to Districts after taking a set against State ranked Century. The Broncos didn’t get to State, but they had a lot of fun as a team and always had a large student section to cheer them on at home games.

Cross Country took 11 athletes to State. Girls placed sixth as a team, Abby Hurst (12) taking sixth place and Tenleigh Smith (9) taking twelfth place. Meanwhile the boys took fifth place overall with Austin Despain (10) taking eighteenth place.
