Blair Warren

Blair Warren has a passion for language and learning. Whether it is writing her own fantasy novel or newspaper article, Warren is a talented author with a love of capturing stories and memories through words and pictures. However, she hasn’t always known her love of writing. Warren only chose Journalism and Newspaper as her electives because her schedule was mistakenly missing half of her classes. In her second year of being part of the staff, she hasn’t looked back from that decision.

Outside of school, Warren works through ISU to take college classes, or in other words, does more school. As an “ambitious, creative, and anxious” individual with lofty goals, Warren is working towards her Associates degree, and, as of right now, she is five credits away from achieving it. She can also be found playing the piano, singing, and reading good books, her favorite being The Boneless Mercies.

When asked what drives her to wake up and go after her ambitions, Warren says that she wants to do better, her motto being “I have lived my life according to this principle: If I’m afraid of it, I must do it (Erica Jong)”. If she had one wish, it would be to know “why people do what they do” so she can “help them overcome [their struggles]”. Her brave aspirations after high school include going to BYU-I with a full-ride tuition in order to earn a Bachelor’s degree in linguistics or language. Then, she wants to continue her education at ISU to earn her Master’s degree in communication. After her schooling, she wishes to join the Navy as a Media Relations Officer because, “our military’s so misrepresented.”

Warren’s inspiration is her parents. She aspires to be more like them by being “friendly and kind to people”. Warren says she has always especially looked up to her mom who has always been “super ambitious” and talented in sports and school. Another of her biggest inspirations is her best friend, Dani. Various other teachers, leaders, and friends have also influenced who Warren has become, and she hopes she has influenced them in return. When asked what food she would be, Warren replied, something “super messy” because she “has already stuck her hands in so many pies” and likes to spread the mess by “converting people to the ways of ambition”. Her commitment to goals and getting what she wants is part of the reason why Warren would describe herself as a snake. When asked what her spirit animal is, she replied that while she may be “loyal, kind, and altruistic” like a dog on the outside, down deep she “knows where her food’s at” and “how to get what [she] wants”.

At the end of the day, Warren believes that one quote captures who she wants to be: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear (Nelson Mandela)”.
