River Denny, Staff Reporter
River Denny, high school junior, started her journey during 2020. Along this journey she has learned to live by the famous words of Tupac who said, “I didn’t choose the thug life, the thug life chose me”. Through the past two years at BHS she has joined the BHS National Honors Society and the Ski Club. River can be described as an adventurous, nature loving, kind person. Denny is the first of four children, all of which enjoy skiing. She has won 1st place in Slalom Racing and 2nd in Dual Slalom at the age of 13. When the winter months are absent however she takes up fishing, camping, and hiking embracing her Native American heritage.
Denny loves winter which goes hand in hand with her favorite sport being skiing. While she does love winter, her favorite season is fall for many reasons. River loves that it cools down and she finally gets to wear the clothes she really likes. She loves how pretty it is and also the fact that her pumpkin spice lattes are finally back. Some favorite things she loves to do in her past time are taking photos and playing video games. Piano is a skill not many people know about, but she finds that she is surprisingly good at it and loves to play. Some more favorites of River is the color sage green, Harry Potter Books, and the subject science.
If karaoke was ever to come her way without doubt she would have to choose Treasure by Bruno Mars, because in her words “he's awesome and I love that song”. While Bruno Mars may be awesome, River finds her favorite songs are 505 by Arctic Monkey and Chamber of Secrets by Mac Demarco. When trying to win her heart her favorite pickup lines to do this would be “Do you like DQ? Because you look like a Queen.” Now to do the opposite of winning her heart, continually sniff in class. She finds it very annoying and doesn’t understand why people can’t just get a tissue. Along with not loving things she says that English and Literature would for sure be her least favorite. She believes that these subjects are not enjoyable and unnecessary.
River will be graduating high school in 2024 and has many plans after. She wants to go to college in Utah to study law or biology. After two years she wants to travel to Europe. River wants to move to Switzerland or Iceland. Switzerland would have many places for her to ski. Iceland would be her second choice to move because it has many small ski resorts. Not only would these be great places to ski, but also to learn about culture. Many plans are in the near future for her as she continues listening to the wise words of Tupac.
