Student athlete Shakayla Morgan first to sign for Blackfoot

Shakayla Morgan (12) signed with CSI on Thursday, January 24. She is going to run for the college’s Cross Country and Track & Fields teams this coming fall. She is the first to sign for Blackfoot High school and is expected to flourish in her new running career.

“I was surprised because I didn’t think I was good enough for that and I didn’t know how it happened,” Morgan said.

Morgan said one of her goals is to bring down her times and improve. She also hopes to “make friends with all my teammates so we can have fun.”

“I hope to get a high GPA academically and continue my running career in a way it will benefit my future,” was another set of goals she had.

She wanted to run for a college but didn’t want to run for four years. CSI made it possible for her to have a running career for those two years and then focus on her future studies at Boise State.

“I went for a visit [at CSI] and all the people on the campus were really friendly and they have the majors and classes I want,” she added.

Blackfoot High school wishes her well in her new running career.
