The softball team placed third at districts on May 10th. The tournament started May 8th and the Broncos played two games each day. The Broncos played with the mindset to win, hoping to make it to state which Blackfoot will host.

They played Preston for their first game on may 8th. The Broncos started off in a hole with it being 7-0 in favor of Preston by the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, the Broncos started to make a comeback and scored four points making it 7-4.  Both teams continued to get good hits and rack up score. In the end the Broncos lost 15-12.

Next, they played Skyline who they lost to twice in the regular season. There was a lot of pressure on this game because losing meant being eliminated from the tournament. Kyah Henderson, who just started pitching again this season, pitched all 7 innings.  With tough defense they were able to bear Skyline 4-3.

“It was exciting to beat them a second year in a row and put them out of the tournament” Kelsie Monson(12) said.

On the second day of the tournament, May 10th, Blackfoot played Preston and Idaho Falls.  Their first game was against Preston again. This time, the Broncos came with a different approach and better attitudes.

“We came in with a better mindset, we didn’t overlook them” Taya Sensenbach (12) said.

The Broncos came through with base hits and solid defense winning the game. The final score was 11-6.

Their next game was against Idaho Falls who had lost to Pocatello. The Broncos lost this game 14-0.  This eliminated them from the tournament and they got third place. Pocatello placed 1st and Idaho Falls placed 2nd.
