Horror movies, the best genre

why horror movies are truly the best

Jace Robinson (J.K.Robin)

Most people don’t sit on the edge of their seats excited that a building exploded; no, they simply enjoy the eye candy as it rolls by on the big screen. Very few people watch and cry during sad movies, and if the tragic scenes within their movies is portrayed wrong, it can be quite humorous. But simply put, when it comes to horror movies, you’re biting your cheek and gripping your seat as you watch the killer stalk his prey.

Horror movies are scary and if it’s a jump scare or a grotesque scene, something will make you afraid. Horror movies can actually give an emotional rush from relief to terror within a matter of seconds. They create a completely unique experience, an experience the action movies or romantic movies can’t offer.

Comedies also give an emotional rush, but not as much as horror movies can produce, and often comedies have goofy characters with little background or development. Horror movies can revolve around psychological issues giving viewers a front seat to the character’s life, their issues, their mentality, their killer instinct. The Shining is a prime example of terror and character. This psychological horror film demonstrates one’s slow slip into insanity, and his wife and child’s struggle to keep him close.

It tends to be that now days movies are driven by computer generated images and big time Hollywood actors, and although some of the time this works, I would much rather watch a completely unique story driven by plot, not CGI. Horror movies tend to stay away from CGI to give you a first-hand view of realism and plausible, stories and even though creatures can be created from CGI, they typically tend to stay away from the big explosions and space galaxy theme.

Watching horror movies also help you face your fears, after you watch enough, jump scares the effect becomes lessened.

If you fear clowns may I suggest Steven King’s It or the Purge? If you fear torture or pain, may I suggest any of the many Saw movies or Would You Rather? The point being there is something to appeal to everyone, and that’s something most genres can’t do.

You can watch a romance movie with your significant other and watch love blossom on the screen as the man complains about how the story is so cheesy, or you can put of a spooky show and seek comfort as you cling to each other for dear life. In conclusion, horror movies raise true emotion, don’t rely on heavy CGI to be good, can tap into anyone’s fear, and bring couples close as they watch people being torn apart.
