Transformers One is the newest movie in the Transformers franchise which has been given relatively positive reviews and ratings. Today, I will be reviewing Transformers One and giving it a rating at the end of the review.
Spoilers ahead so be warned.
In the beginning of the movie, it establishes how the world in Transformers came to be and the other general information from the Transformers franchise. The world they live in is called Cybertron and the city that most of the story takes place in is called Iacon.
As for characters, there are many familiar faces with different names such as Orion Pax who is Optimus Prime, D-16 who is Megatron, B-127 as Bumblebee, Elita-1 and so many more characters.
There were many things like the Megatronus Prime sticker, D-16 and Orion being brothers (in a metaphorical sense), the cogs, and Sentinel’s betrayal which are the main things that come up throughout the movie. For the Megatronus Prime sticker, Sentinel Prime uses it to taunt D-16 along with him burning the logo into his chest. As for the cogs, it is revealed that Sentinel Prime removed the cogs of all the worker bots including the main characters so they could work harder in the mines.
After watching the movie multiple times, I believe that the moral or theme of the story is the ability of falling down and getting back up no matter what force is trying to keep you down. This is prevalent many times throughout the movie like when they are forced to follow protocol, escape to the surface, meet the High Guard, fight against Sentinel and his ruling, and finally, when the two main characters, D-16, now Megatron, and Orion Pax, now Optimus Prime, fight each other at the ending of the films for their beliefs and frustrations.
Overall, the animation, voice acting, humor, and storytelling were really good and I highly recommend it for anyone who’s a fan of Transformers, anyone looking to get into Transformers, or anyone who just wants to see a touching story between characters.
I would give it a 9/10 as there are some flaws. There’s even not one, but two after credit scenes after the movie which are both humorous but also set up for potential sequels. Something that I would’ve loved to see more of was the Quintessons as they didn’t have enough screen time for how much they were important to the plot. Another thing is that there were some overused tropes in the movie like revealing that Sentinel is a traitor to the people by broadcasting it across Iacon. It didn’t exactly take me out of it but I did notice that trope be used in this movie, especially where it is placed.
