Welcome Jacob Spjute to Blackfoot High!!
Jake Spjute is our brand new drama teacher replacing Sharon Hoge after her retirement last year. He decided to become the new teacher after the retiree had convinced him to, and he is so glad she did.
Mr. Spjute graduated high school in 2007 from Borah High School in Boise, Idaho. He attended Utah State University where he majored in vocal performance and music education. It is here that he met his wife, Kiah. He graduated from this school in 2015. High school is where his love of choir started. When he was 16, his choir teacher had gotten tickets to the opera “La Boheme” at the Boise Morrison Center. He’s been hooked ever since. He has performed his talent many times but his favorite opera performances he’s done was working at the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre Company for 3 years. If you ever get the chance to watch him perform here locally, it is well worth it.
Along with Spjute’s new teaching responsibilities, he is also running the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center, as he has since 2020. He enjoys running the lights and sound for the center. Additionally, he finds it exciting to be a part of the schools’ and communities’ events that are hosted there.
Goals he has for the drama department are quite exciting. He plans to have lots of success at the district and state drama competitions in both the acting and technical pieces. He hopes to be able to help the community experience all the mass talent of the students involved in Blackfoot High Drama Company.
He’s excited for his first year and all to come teaching here at Blackfoot High School!!
