Douglas Ott
Douglas Ott is a foreign exchange student from Stockholm, Sweden. Douglas was informed that he was coming to Idaho three days before he had to leave to come here. He said that this is his first year as a foreign exchange student, and he is enjoying it. One confusing thing about America Douglas thought was how everything food-wise is so incredibly sweet here. Douglas said a cliché about Idaho he knew was that Idaho is the potato state. Douglas described Idaho as “I like it, it’s more countryside than I’m used to, you guys have lots of different things”. Ways Douglas likes to get involved in school is soccer and after-school sports activities. His favorite food is a Swedish food called Kebab, it is a meat-like pizza topped with pepperoni and lettuce.
Douglas’s hobbies and free time activities are soccer, boating, guitar, and skiing. His free time activities are “going boating, and hanging out with my friends”. The music that Douglas enjoys is Ejan. Douglas recommends if you’re going to visit Sweden to check out The Grounds, and Stockholm “Stockholm is so pretty” described Douglas. Places he likes to visit here in Idaho include the Grounds and football stadiums. Douglas’s school system consisted of elementary schools being first through ninth, as for high school they don’t get to pick classes, but the type of school to attend. The example Douglas used is that he could pick social studies high school but not the classes he would take. “The hardest part of coming here was learning the English part, how you speak can be difficult.”
