Social Cues Pt 1: Walking in the Halls
Let’s face it, walking in the hallways of our school while having a massive population boost is so stressful. Whether it’s: getting hit by a school backpack, getting your bag grabbed to make you move faster, or even being pushed around, we all have been there. This article should be able to help and enlighten people on how to walk in the hallways and common hallway etiquette. For many, a stress factor of walking in the hallways is people going in the wrong direction whether intentionally because it seems faster or unknowingly. This photo shows the directions you should be going to reach your desired classes. A good thing to remember if it’s a stairway that goes up and down, the right side is usually to go up while the left is used for going down. The same rule can be applied to all hallways.
Now a common thing people discuss and talk about is not only the stairs but our school’s hallway etiquette. Often more times than not people are shouting for someone to move or angrily shoving or pushing someone trying to get them to go faster. While some
may find this funny or effective, many find it ineffective and plain rude. So what should you be doing as a fellow Bronco to make sure our schools’ stairways are safe and efficient? Well first off, you shouldn’t yell at someone or shove them, it can result in an injury or a fight. Another thing to do is keep calm, even if things are going slow it won’t make it faster by angrily screaming and yelling.
Another good thing to NOT do while walking in the hallways and stairways is not to stop to talk to a buddy or friend. We all remember being almost late to class due to how crowded the hallways are and it’s because a group of friends refuses to move. What you should do is head to class and give the common courtesy to move if people request it trying to get through. Flat tiring and more are not good ways to solve the problem overall, while it feels good, it won’t last forever. This is what we need to do as Broncos to walk properly on the stairs so we can be a thriving success!
