Solo gives a new hope for Star Wars movies

I have not been a huge fan of the new Star Wars movies starting with The Force Awakens in 2015 however, I was very surprised by the high quality of Solo: A Star wars Story.

The cast of the movie is what makes it so good. Alden Ehrenreich looks and acts remarkably like Harrison Ford in his role of Han Solo. I really liked how he grew into being the Han Solo we know in the other movies rather than just starting off exactly like him.

Emilia Clarke is one of my favorite actors ever, and she plays Kira, Han Solo’s past love interest. She does a fantastic job of playing a character who is struggling to make the choice between right and wrong. She especially does a good job of acting in the scenes where she wants to be with Han but can’t because of commitments she has made to survive.

Donald Glover plays a perfect Lando, a trickster gambler. He made the gambling scenes really cool and intense. He loves his robot robot which would be a difficult thing to portray. But I was impressed with the way he executed it without making it too weird.

One of my favorite things about the movie was the character M-3. She is Lando’s robot and she is rebellious and wants to progress the rights of robots. She is really sassy, always speaks her mind, and her forward personality is humorous. She shows that robots could theoretically have emotions and make their own choices other than just what they are programmed to do. In one part of the movie she helps free enslaved robots, people, and aliens.

Overall, the movie was really good because it wasn’t predictable like all the other Star Wars movies. It had a really good shock factor when Kira betrays Han because of Emilia Clarke’s good acting and the foreshadowing wasn’t too obvious. Seeing into Han’s past was really fun especially seeing how he met Chewbacca and watching their relationship grow.  This movie returned my faith in the Star Wars Franchise because it provided good information on characters and had a exciting, shocking plot.
