There has finally been a new Demon Slayer release after waiting a year and a half for it to come out. The movie is called Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part One. The movie had a mix of different emotions flowing throughout the movie. There were times when I wished the movie had a different outcome; however, I have to say I’m excited for the next movie to be released.
The first fight we see is between Shinobu Kocho and Doma, who is an upper rank 2 demon. This is a personal fight between the two, as Doma is the demon responsible for Shinobu’s sister’s demise. After a long fight, Doma eventually absorbs her, and Kanao Tsuyuri initiates a fight with Doma after witnessing what happened to Shinobu, and is shortly joined by Inosuke Hashibira. After Kanao initiates the fight, we skip forward, and we are shown the fight between Zenitsu and Kaigaku.
This fight is crucial for many reasons. Zenitsu confronted Kaigaku, who is an upper rank 6 demon, and his old “senior”. Through the figh,t we’re shown scenes from before Kaigaku was a demon, of the two not getting along. Eventually, Zenitsu is able to defeat Kaigaku, and this is crucial for his growth. It showed his determination as a demon slayer and was overall, a really good fight scene. Even though Zenitsu defeated Kaigaku, he still passed out due to his wounds, and we are left on a cliffhanger as to how he is doing.
The final fight scene is between Tanjiro and Giyu, going against the upper rank 3, Akaza. During this fight, we are shown Akaza’s backstory. Let me tell you, there was absolutely no reason for it to have been THAT devastating. Believe it or not, I don’t watch anime. I’ve only watched three Demon Slayer movies, including this one, and it had me bawling. I cried for the entire scene, and I’m even now, 3 days later, upset. I don’t care that he was one of the bad demons; that was torture. In the end, Tanjiro and Giyu defeat him (which is also such a sad scene), but they also pass out. The end of the movie set the stage for the next movies to contain battles with the other upper ranks and Muzan, who is kind of like the final boss.
Overall, this movie was really good. At some points I feel like there shouldn’t have had as many flashbacks as it did. It for sure added to the story, but it also felt almost repetitive at some points. This is mainly during the fight between Tanjiro, Giyu and Akaza. However, every time there was a flashback during this scene, my heart broke for Akaza a little more. The entire movie had such good animation and graphics. The plot was super good, and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It gave me such a mix of emotions the whole movie, and I could never guess what was going to happen next. I’m really excited for the next movie to come out, and I give this movie a 7.5/10.
