Gabriel Hill is a senior at Blackfoot High School and was one of the few people in the school who got to participate in competing at nationals for BPA. BPA, or Business Professionals of America, is a national student organization dedicated to developing students and their skills for the world of business.
BPA competitions can be quite complicated, as Hill, who has been participating throughout all of high school, explained that there are many different parts of BPA competitions. You can choose different ways in which you want to complete, even competing as an individual (like Gabe) or in a group.
Depending on your specific group, you are given a task to complete and then given time to do the task. After the time limit, people will judge your finished product and you are awarded points based on that.
Hill is a student who excels and loves the business part of school, and his skills allowed him to compete in the Idaho state competition in March, in which he got third place in his category. Later in May, Gabe was the only person from Blackfoot to compete individually in Orlando, Florida for nationals, which he explains that they weren’t expecting to win anything, but instead went to be there and have fun.
Hill explained that if you have any type of interest in the business world, he advises joining BPA as soon as you can in order to devote your skills to BPA and training, not only to do well at the competitions but to do well in the Business world after graduation.
