On Monday, May 12, 2025 Blackfoot High School held an awards ceremony where thousands of dollars worth in scholarships were awarded to multiple Blackfoot seniors. On top of this, awards such as “outstanding student”, multiple CTE awards and an impressive amount of honor based awards.
All students that won an award were invited and the event seemed well attended. Many great awards were given to a number of students, and the event went on for around three hours.
Overall, the event seemed like a fun and effective way to give out awards in a timely manner while still allowing students to be recognized for their accomplishments. Despite this, some students and parents felt the event was stretched a little long, and felt it was longer than it should have been.
For example, Dax Hollum, the winner of three separate scholarship awards, such as the Bryce Loyd memorial scholarship and The Road scholarship, said this about the award ceremony:
“I am very grateful for my awards, but I could not shake the feeling that the event went on a little longer than it should have.”
