On April 18th, Blackfoot high school competed in the Tech Olympics. This was part of the One Act Competition that was also occurring at ISU. Blackfoot took first place for the very first time in history.
Tech Olympics is a timed competition that focuses on the technical aspects of theatre. The behind the scenes work can be intense and there are many things a true techie* must know to succeed. This particular competition had stations that challenged skills such as:
- Scumble painting
- Painting within lines
- Sewing a button
- Screwing different types screws with a drill
- Light calibrating
- Wrapping cords properly
The teams went through the competition as quickly and efficiently as possible to achieve the fastest time without deductions.
Each school participating sent a duo team to compete. Blackfoot sent seniors Caden Corry and Mekhi Hoge. The two raced to finish the course to the best of their abilities; and they did! Blackfoot High now has a new trophy (a very cool trophy) that shows the excellency of the drama company.
When asked what his first thoughts were as he held the trophy, Corry (12) said, “I finally contributed something to the school…now mekhi and I are technically the greatest techies in Blackfoot’s history.”
Congratulations to the winners!
