Chase James teaches at Blackfoot High School who has taught Government, Economics, and History. As of this new year, he started a new program with Sergeant Hayes called Crimes and Society, which has slowly made its way into becoming his new favorite topic of discussion. It is one of the things that gets him excited about teaching; however, becoming a teacher was not a part of his plan for a career.
Mr. James has lived in Blackfoot, Idaho, for his entire life and has even been a student here at Blackfoot High School. As we know, after high school, college is usually next in line, and for his pick, he started to go to Montana Eastern, located in Dillon, Montana.
His first choice for career was to be a lawyer; however, after some thought while still in college, he realized that he would have to serve many years just to get things done. It was a little too much. For 4 years, he had been there until after graduation, where he lived with his grandfather in Star Valley, Wyoming, while he started his student teaching, which helped him to become the teacher that he is today.
He later met Mrs. Wren, who introduced him to his wife. About five years after that, they are still happily married with kids of their own. He moved back to Blackfoot, Idaho, where he decided to live from here on out with his lovely family. Although he likes to stay in Blackfoot due to being both familiar with it and just coming to love it, he still likes to travel around.
He eventually started his teaching career at Blackfoot High School, where he started to love what he did. Being able to connect with the students there very easily and even being an open book with them. He likes to share things about himself, and he even likes to get the students to talk, asking about their weekends and even adding a little bit of jokes.
The more that he taught at Blackfoot High School, the more he started to participate in school activities such as clubs. He became interested in the new Clay Target Program, where he became a co-adviser with Mr. Wilding. To even go into more detail about the club, they go to Cedar Hills Gun Club, a couple of days out of the month and shoot shotguns.
When asked what he liked about being a part of this club, he responded, “Whatever things I have going on in my life; they don’t matter when I am focused on an orange target flying through the sky.”
I guess you could say that the club in some way ties down to what he likes to do in his free time, where he said that in the Winter he likes to start hunting. Out of anything he has hunted, Waterfowl and Whitetails are his favorite. While he likes this, he also enjoys playing disc golf at Blackfoot’s Jensen’s Grove during the summer.
