Lyn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty’s Broadway production of Anastasia is coming to the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center from March 14-21. Tickets are $10 per person.
Anastasia follows the story of the Princess Anastasia, who was separated from her family, and embarks on a journey to find out who she really is and where she belongs.
Directors Jake Spjute, Jennifer Hill, Chris Dunbar, and Rachel Yancey have been working with students on acting, singing, dancing, set, lights, props, costumes, and much more since the end of October. The students involved in this production have both enjoyed success and endured setbacks while creating their own rendition of this mysterious musical.
Molly Whyte, the junior who is portraying the role of Anastasia, was asked about what she has either enjoyed or struggled with during this musical, and responded with the following: “[I have enjoyed] hanging out with my friends and sharing my love of theater and music through the show.”
Mekhi Hoge, the senior who is portraying the role of Dmitry, stated that he has had both setbacks and victories in the making of this show. Hoge said, “The funnest part has been making tons of new friends and getting closer to everyone in the cast, and the hardest part is not constantly messing around with the new friends as well as trying to not get sick.”
