On March 5th, a speaker known as Juan Cangas came to speak in front of Blackfoot High School’s Junior and Senior students to help them decide and showcase on making a choice along with telling his story.
Cangas talked about making a choice and deciding things to prepare for later in life. He had many students get on stage and decide the choice they want to make by walking left or right with questions such as text or call, true love or money, and college or straight to work. He gave many lessons to the students who attended along with telling his story of how plans don’t always go how you want them to go.
“Sometimes things don’t go as planned but that’s ok,” Cangas was quoted as saying during his story where his mother wanted him to be born as an American citizen.
Throughout the assembly, he presented a $20 bill to not only engage the students during the assembly but to also teach a lesson about being ready. Students were tasked to stand up as fast as they could with the student who got the $20 bill was Russel Bewley (12).
