AI, artificial intelligence, is something that has taken the world by storm. AI is a set of technology that is supposed to help advanced functions, on a variety of platforms on you’re computer or device. As of late the invention of artificial intelligence has improved constantly and is still advancing its technology to the point it has been able to generate its own games, movies, art, and pictures.
There has been conflict throughout different platforms and even in our own school. AI, is it good? Can it actually help or be better than something man-made?
AI was made to help and benefit humanity by removing human errors, saving capabilities, digital assistance and unbiased decision-making. But as society has moved forward in its development, AI has been abused by people who use AI as their own work as a student, suppose on an essay paper or as an artist, without being made by real passion.
Going around my own school, I asked some of the teachers, in the English and math departments about how they’ve seen AI in their own Classrooms, and how using AI as a tactic of getting out of work. has affected our generations.
Starting in the English department, the most discussed topic on how AI has affected students, ” It’s not subtle to spot my student using AI, it’s not hard at all,” said Mrs Wilmot.
Mrs. Judd said at least 5 students try using AI each trimester. It doesn’t matter the type of assignment, kids will still try using AI in big or small assignments.
Mrs. Wilmot said, “AI will affect you’re future to think, it’s important to know when to use it.”
Mrs Judd, “It’s a matter of practicing skills yourself, then avoiding it.” are explaining how you’re future will be harder, it will be harder in life if you spend your whole time in school using AI instead of developing the skills you need to thrive in a day to day lifetime.
Of course, teachers aren’t against AI, it’s just how it’s being used in school. Most teachers use AI personally. Mrs. Wilmot uses AI personally. AI is just not necessary in the classroom. It can help you as a student but how it’s used is consuming you’re own work ethic, in using your own brain is the main takeaway from the English department. “AI can’t be the human mind, don’t let AI change you’re unique self.”
Going to the math department, one of my favorite things that I thought was important for students to hear was “embrace the struggle.” something Mr Plank says often. Using AI math can be helpful in math but as talking to Ms Snedaker. It’s better to be used as practice or as examples to help you get to those steps you need when you’re having struggles and unable to ask a teacher for help. The key takeaway is that AI can be helpful when used as examples or practice, for the rest of you’re work. advance with AI, don’t let yourself think it’s a shortcut to be done faster.
