Lion King Jr. is a classic Disney movie turned into a musical, and a great show to watch with your family! Lion King Jr. was performed at the Nuart theatre under Blackfoot Community Players this February. The musical includes fun songs performed by amazing actors.
The actors made phenomenal choices with their delivery of lines and made the experience enjoyable. The characters are the same as in the movie. Simba, played by Matt Hone, was a very entertaining character to watch. You could tell that everyone in the cast enjoyed the show they put on, especially the young ensemble kids. Mufasa, played by Dexter Hansen, had a very positive view on playing his role. “Playing Mufasa was fantastic! It really showed me an inside to the character and the show overall. It gave a depth to the character that you can’t get from watching the movies and showed me that he wasn’t just a character who happened to die, but a father who truly loved his kingdom and especially his family.” And that is definitely true!
Scar, played by Dylan Godfrey also had a similar experience. “For me, I really loved Be Prepared because that was my song and I got to do it how I wanted to. I got to own it and perform it to the best of my abilities. I also got to play a villain which has always been a dream for me and I loved every second of it. Overall, Lion King Jr. was great because of all of my talented cast mates and the really wonderful directors. The directors were able to work well with all of the kids so that made it really fun.”
Lion King Jr. was a fun activity to go watch, and it seems that the actors agree that it was an enjoyable experience for them!
