Hey there ladies and gentlemen, I hope you’re having a wonderful day but I must state that this review will contain spoilers for the Sonic Three movie. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! If you wish not to be spoiled, avert away from this article until you’ve watched the film.
This movie is about Sonic and friends fighting some evil force that threatens the world with total annihilation…
I personally thought this movie was an absolute joyride through the whole thing. There were only a couple of parts where I thought it was too over the top, which I’ll get to by the way.
This movie has some of the best-looking animation I’ve ever seen, the computer-generated imagery looks so good through and through that it looks like they could actually be in our world.
Character-wise, they did Shadow so spectacularly in this movie, in every scene he is in he absolutely shreds and looks amazing. Like at the start he easily cleans out a room of trained soldiers in mere seconds and breaks out of the highest protected facility in the series with ease.
He easily takes Sonic out on multiple occasions and he just dominates every scene he’s in. Sonic is well Sonic being brash but ultimately caring for his family, Knuckles is the prideful strong one, and Tails is the smart one. They work well together because Tails is Sonic’s straight man and Knuckles is there for the ride.
A lot of the scenes were pretty enjoyable, but I feel like Jim Carrey was a bit crazy in this movie. So there’s a scene where Gerald Robotnick got them new suits and then Dr Eggman acted like a child then crawled over to Gerald and kissed his feet. Another is right after Sonic and Shadow go super to stop the eclipse cannon where it immediately cuts to Gerald spanking Dr Egmman.
So my only complaints stem from when Jim Carrey goes a little overboard, but their dance scene was spectacular. Keanu Reeves was an amazing pick for shadow no complaints here, he fit it perfectly. He sounded amazing.
Gerald Robotnick is the same actor as Dr. Eggman, so it was good. Sonic Tails and Knuckles sound as good as they did in the last two movies. Something else I would like to talk about: I did notice that some of the jokes weren’t exactly the best. The Jim Carrey fourth wall break feels shoe-horned in rather than coming naturally.
Well, thank you for taking the time to read this!
