Bydand is a brand new theater company that was founded by Christy Foster, its artistic director, who has stepped into the lights with her opening play “Puffs.”
The comedy play, set in the Harry Potter universe, shows the story we all know and love from the perspective of a group of Hufflepuff friends trying their best to make a difference. Narrated by Blackfoot High School student Ryan Hammond, the show gives a hilarious twist on the wizarding world.
“This show has been so fun to work on,” Foster stated. “And while we laugh a lot, I am so grateful for the deeper meaning of love and friendship that has spilled over into our cast.” This theme of friendship is shown through the relationship between the characters portrayed in “Puffs.”
Actors Darin Counts, Thea Disney, Joey Shokes, Jennifer Thompson, Hailey Becker, Ariya Jensen, Dean Panttaja, Braxton Williams, and Heidi Powell all play Hufflepuff characters united through their common quirkiness.
Others involved with the production were Christy Hudson and Jennifer Hill. When asked about the show, Hill said, “The cast is one big fun family. They truly care about one another and cheer each other on in everything they do. They are hilarious and loving people – true PUFFS!”
Bydand’s next major project “Into The Woods” will see performances July 29th – August 9th. Foster stated “It is a passion project for the director, Christy Hudson, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
