The days keep moving and the time for TikTok’s departure is getting closer. We really don’t know the current fate of Tiktok’s future in America as the U.S. passed a bill to ban the social media app for users in the States. However, after the events of the 12 hour ban on January 19 that was given a 90 day extension we really don’t know what will happen to the app. So instead let’s look back and enjoy the trends of 2024.
The “We Listen and We Don’t Judge” was one of TikTok’s most loved trends in 2024. This trend consisted of people spilling some of their most interesting stories with others close to them with the acknowledgment that they will not be judged. The trend allowed for friends to deepen their relationships and further their trust in each other. It opened a door for people all over the world to relate to others over similar but unique experiences.
#Womeninmalefields was a gender norm breaking trend that allowed for women to match men in their chaotic energy. This was a really harmless yet funny trend to view on TikTok that seemed to bring together many women on the platform.
“Your Month Your Topic” was a really cute trend on TikTok that gained a lot of popularity. Some ranged from your month your fast food to your month your animal. I enjoyed this trend because it was fun to send and compare with friends. It was a small enough trend that put a smile on peoples faces. It also allowed a break for people from the craziness of Tiktok.
The “Superman Drop” was a popular trend that blossomed during the holidays this year. A “trust fall” like prank to the infamous Crank That (Souja Boy) dance which was the perfect disguise for this prank. With time to waste and younger relatives to mess with, this prank quickly spread all over TikTok within a short amount of time.
