Mrs. Saundra Eldredge said, “The Sources Club officers, student campaign advisors, and adult advisors judged the door decorations. They were given the opportunity to rank the doors on a scale from 1-5 (lowest-highest).” said Ms. Saundra Eldredge. Their only criteria for the door was gratitude.
According to Psychology Today, “Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one has or the conscious effort to count one’s blessings. It recognizes value independent of monetary worth and generates a climate of positivity that both reaches inward and extends outward. Spontaneously generated from within, it is an affirmation of goodness and warmth. This social emotion strengthens relationships and recognizes the value of helping others and being helped in return.”.
The reason the school is doing all of this is because our Sources of Strength thought that it would be nice if we could build more of a connection to our advisory teachers and it brought a positive message to all of the school. Gratitude is a part of this contest because in psychology today it also says that gratitude can help one’s mental and physical health a lot, whether you realize it or not.
