Boys state soccer was a big accomplishment for the soccer team and Blackfoot High School. It certainly was a big achievement for their coach Liam Pope as well.
The team won against Idaho Falls in the state’s third-place game by 3-1. Their first score was through Gio Labra (11) being assisted by Josiah Ballesteros (11) gaining their score to 1-0 during halftime. Their second goal was scored from a penalty by Enrique Nevarez(12), which was then won by Javian Ballesteros(12). Their final goal was then scored by Nevarez being assisted by Labra.
Graeden Adam (11) was very excited to attend State. He said, “The team has been working very hard to work their way up to state.” He explained that it’s good to have that accomplishment of being third in state, which is cool.
Javian Ballesteros said that as his senior year, it feels great to bring that title to Blackfoot High School of being placed third in the state for soccer. “The team had good and positive energy, everyone was excited to go to state,” Ballesteros said.
