Paul Loomis, the former mayor of Blackfoot, Idaho, served 26 years in the army. He returned to Blackfoot and ran for mayor after serving in the army. Loomis decided to run for mayor since the current mayor was going to retire.
Mayor Loomis focused mainly on improving city services. His upgrade of the city’s water treatment plant, crucial to Blackfoot’s future, was his biggest achievement in putting the city on a more professional basis.
Loomis, however, didn’t stop there. He put a lot of effort into making Blackfoot’s downtown area lively and more welcoming when he was in office. He eventually used this as inspiration to open a candy store after serving as mayor.
Loomis has been making candy for five years now. Loomis decided to spend two days learning how to make fudge by hiring a professional fudge maker from Utah. He now makes fudge every day.
Paul Loomis is a true Blackfoot citizen, in his years of service and even after taking up the work of a candy maker he never disappointed the town. Long-lasting impacts come from his efforts to improve city services and make downtown more welcoming. Even now, he supports the community by making fudge and spreading his passion for making candy for others.
