The homecoming 2024 dance was a dramatic appearance under the theme of “The Greatest Show”, based on the movie “The Greatest Showman.”
Due to the construction in the front of the school you had to enter the dance through the racquetball court parking, from there you entered the doors of the legacy gym, you were greeted by red hung curtains and a table booth that allowed you to buy the tickets or give your dance ticket. You have now gone down the stairs and officially entered the dance!
The legacy gym was decorated with red curtains draped up from the ceiling beams. In the center was a well-lit small chandelier, and the DJ was centered on the wall side.
This year at homecoming, there was a small photography setup out near the concession stands, the background was glittered up with fake curtains and lighting but the trim around it had golden material with small fairy lights that lighted the edges. No beverages were provided this year.
The DJ was playing decently good music for a while but I did realize he was playing quite a few slow songs after every certain hyped-up song. The DJ also was not taking only certain requests which was a little bit upsetting. When entering the gym a few people were dancing but very little, after some time passed, more people arrived and I observed others being more confident to dance.
Overall, if I had to rate the homecoming dance for this year it would be at least a 7/10.
I think what could be improved was bringing beverages again and a DJ that takes more song requests. I would have to say that one of my favorite songs that were played during the dance was Starships by Nicki Minaj, however, one of my least go-to songs would be one of the slow-dancing songs, Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Therefore, the homecoming dance was greatly decorated and there was a lot more space to dance the night away.
