Photography is a great subject to get into because you can learn to take very beautiful pictures. You can make memories and tell stories about the pictures. Photography can help business owners reach out to new audiences and increase sales. One can capture the light with a camera.
Blackfoot High School photography teacher Mrs. Christie Kotter chose to do it because an old friend of hers showed it to her and she instantly fell in love with it. She remembers taking pictures with her dad when they would go hunting. She would take pictures of the flowers and leaves and stuff like that.
Kotter said the best part of taking pictures for her is making connections with her clients and capturing the person and their beauty. She likes to make memories and then the picture lives forever so the picture won’t grow old.
Kotter started the photography club because she wanted to share the way it feels to take pictures and the warm feeling you get when you see the final project. There are currently 60 people in her club.
Kotter tries to take trips with her club every year, but they have to do things like concession stands and raise the money for the trips.
Kotter has been doing photography for 10 years. She has done over 500 sessions but plans on slowing down on taking pictures for parties so she can focus on school and her class and put all her energy into her classes and her clubs.
Kotter uses a Canon camera. When she takes pictures for people she ranges her prices from $500 to $2,500.
