Head coach, Christa Stufflebeam, has been coaching cheer at Blackfoot High School for 8 years! Her favorite memory in these 8 years was last season when she heard that they had won first in Sideline, and from there she knew they had won at State. She said that when she saw all the girls’ faces of realization when they knew they had won first was the best feeling in the world. Considering that this win was the first time in history for BHS, she says that those feelings of winning for the first time will never be repeated, but she would like to get as close to those feelings as possible.
Going into this year’s season, she feels pressured to repeat last year’s season. “It’s a good position to be the underdog but coming in as the reigning champions, that’s scary.” A lot of this pressure is made because she wants her girls to accomplish all of their goals. Her goal is to send 29 girls into the world feeling confident and empowered. For the school she wants unity and pride. “ I would love for athletes and the drama kids and the choir kids and the debate kids to come together and support each other.”
Her advice for all athletes is to trust your coaches because they want what is best for you. She always tells her girls that all of the little things matter, and it all adds up in the end. “Success isn’t overnight, it’s when everyday you get a little better than the day before. It all adds up.” Dwane Johnson.
